Not all the magic happens just from the ambiance but from the kitchen. Chef Teddy born and raised in Lima, Peru has been sharing his recipes around the world for almost two2 decades. His passion for cooking started with his grandmother and grandfather, the two people who would make home-cooked meals every Sunday with him. After Teddy graduated from culinary school, he wanted to discover new dishes where he could combine unusual ingredients together across the U.S, Europe, Asia, Latin America, and the Caribbean. After gaining a lot of experience in the corporate industry from having jobs such as overseeing 17 properties as Corporate Chef of the Peruvian hotel chain Andina Hotels, working at the Marriott, and other restaurants, he decided to return to his roots. Teddy took his grandparents’ kitchen and dinner table in mind, and created Lima Bistro, which he called an intimate restaurant where families and lovers could gather to discover new flavors and make everlasting memories. He has now found his forever home in Aruba and is forever grateful for the opportunity.
Now for the good part: I went to Lima Bistro not once but twice while I was in Aruba. The food is so savory and so unique. To start off, I ordered sparkling water, but they have many fun drinks to choose from, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. To start we got tuna ceviche with passionfruit, onions, sesame, and black quinoa. Another appetizer that we got was the leek confit; it was so creamy and just so tasty, it kind of felt like the manchego cheese was melting in my mouth. For my main meal, I got the Boston lettuce, shrimps, which were served with garlic aioli, tomatoes, and parmesan cheese. Finally, for dessert, we got French toast, with condensed milk, honey, wild berries, and vanilla ice cream, this was hands down one of the best desserts and dinners I had ever had. They mixed different cultures and flavors to create unique dishes that are so savory.
Not only is the food good at the restaurant, the vibes are too. The whole restaurant and very tropical, beachy chairs with marble walls in the shades of blues and whites. Whether you want to go for lunch, a romantic dinner, marina views, or for amazing food, it won’t disappoint. Don’t forget to make Lima Bistro a top restaurant to visit on your trip to Aruba.
