Wayne Valley FIeld Hockey Recap

Wayne+Valley+FIeld+Hockey+Recap

The Wayne Valley Field Hockey team has done amazing things this season. Seniors Abigail McNamara and Meghan Tomback, and junior Ella Vacca, are leading the girls as the Wayne Valley Field Hockey captains for the 2023 season.

Starting strong, the girls swept the field at their home opener on September 18th, winning 8-0 against Passaic Valley High school. Two goals were scored by senior Meghan Tomback. Junior Allie McNutt showed off with 3 goals, and junior Sarah Vastano, senior Abigail McNamara, and sophomore Ameila Titus contributed 3 goals leading to a big win! On September 22nd, the girls played Old Tappan High School, winning again, 8-1. The girls fought a tough battle against their rivals at Wayne Hills, but this game was monumental for Varsity goalie, Kiley Achenbach. During this game, Kiley hit her milestone of 100 career saves!

Aside from on the field, these girls have an amazing bond off the field as well. From team dinners, pasta parties, team runs and even team coffee trips to Starbucks, these girls have an unbreakable bond. Alina Bongiovanni, a senior on the Varsity team says, “This team will have a place in my heart forever. I am so happy we are all so close and I found my best friends.”

Currently, the team is 7-6, and they are 4-1 in league play\
