5 Celebrities That Understood the Assignment at the 2023 Met Gala

This year’s Met Gala was held on Monday, May 1st. Celebrities showed up in outfits following a theme meant to honor Karl Lagerfeld, a German designer who died in 2019. In order to follow the theme, attendees had to come up with ensembles inspired by the designer. Let’s see what some of the guests wore at the Met Gala and rate their outfits!

1. Dua Lipa – 8/10

Dua Lipa, the co-chair at the Met Gala this year, showed up in a Chanel wedding dress that Lagerfeld himself designed. She paired this dress with a Tiffany necklace adorned with a 100-carat diamond.

2. Tems – 10/10

At the 2023 Met Gala, Tems wore a black and white dress that was strapless designed by Robert Wun. To complete the look, she also wore elbow-length gloves, a veil, and a stunning black headpiece.

3. Doja Cat – 7/10

Unsettling as it might seem, at this year’s Met Gala, Doja Cat dressed up as an actual cat! Yes, that’s right, her outfit at the Met Gala was inspired by Lagerfeld’s cat, Coupette. Doja Cat’s outfit consists of a gown studded with gems that faded into fur for the train of her dress. To complete the look, Doja wore a cat-inspired prosthetic facial piece along with claw nails.

4. Jenna Ortega – 10/10

Jenna Ortega’s outfit featured a layered ruffled black dress with a long black train designed by Thom Browne. To tie it all together, she also had diamond earrings and rings that went well with the gold detailing throughout her look.

5. Conan Gray – 10/10

At this year’s Met Gala, Conan Gray wore a suit by Balmain embedded with crystals and pearls galore. As the cherry on top, Gray also had a fan, one of an iconic accessories that Lagerfeld himself often carried around.
