At Wayne Valley High School, creativity and hard work took center stage in the Fashion Department as students prepared for their fashion show on June 9, 2026. This year’s theme, “Birds of Feather,” highlighted individuality, creativity, and the way fashion can bring different ideas together into one inspiring showcase.
Since the beginning of 2026, students in every level of the fashion program have been working tirelessly to prepare for the event. From sketching original concepts to sewing detailed garments and developing marketing strategies, the class has spent months turning their visions into reality. The fashion did not only display clothing designs, but also showed the dedication, teamwork, and artistic talent of the students behind them.
The program is divided into four levels, each focusing on a different part of the fashion industry. Level 1 introduces students to the basics of clothing design and garment creation, teaching them the foundations of sewing and construction. Level 2 focuses on fashion illustration, where students learn how to communicate ideas through sketches and design concepts. In Level 3, students advance into construction techniques and special finishes, adding professional details and craftsmanship to their work. Finally, Level 4 centers on marketing, helping students understand branding promotion, and the business side of the fashion world.
Leading the program is Ms. Dean, who teaches all four fashion classes as well as Photo 1. Through her guidance, students have been able to explore both the artistic and professional sides of fashion while building confidence in their creativity and technical skills.
Students involved in the show shared their excitement about the process and the event. Noa Turro explained that preparing for the show had taken months of planning, creativity, and teamwork. She described the experience as both challenging and rewarding because students were able to see their ideas come to life through their designs. Natalia Panebianco also shared that the theme “Birds of a Feather” allows students to express themselves in unique ways while still contributing to a larger vision for the show. Both students emphasized how much effort the class had put into making the event successful.
The “Birds of a Feather” fashion show promised to be a celebration of originality and collaboration. After almost six months of preparation, students were immensely excited to present their work and demonstrated how fashion can combine art, design, and storytelling into one unforgettable experience.
