All in all, DECA had an extremely successful and fun year. From the Ramapo trip to States in Atlantic City, every DECA member learned something new and had a good time. Mrs Brown, the advisor, says, “We had a great year, and have literally tripled our membership in the last two years.” The last couple of months of school, the club is getting ready for another exciting year. For example, club members have had the opportunity to apply for board positions. Positions include Social Media Manager, one of the many Vice Presidents, and the main position of President. Board members work together to create fundraising activities and organize the small details behind all the DECA trips. People applying must submit a short application, including why they are interested in a board position, and then schedule an interview with Mrs. Brown and other advisors or board members. By electing members early this year, DECA can get a head start on making next year extra special. We are looking to strengthen our chapter, and are looking forward to seeing commitment in every member.
Mrs. Brown’s goals for DECA include “getting our members to be more active in our club, having more students participate at the state level, and doing more community service as a group.” For those of you looking for another club to join, whether to learn more about business or just have more extracurriculars, DECA is a fantastic opportunity!
