This year’s Junior Formal was held at The Grand in Totowa on March 26th and lasted from 6:00 to 10:00 pm. In the weeks leading up to it excitement seemed to fill the air.
A group chat was created on GroupMe for all the junior girls to show off what dresses they were going to wear. Many girls spent hours searching for the perfect dress and this group ensured that every girl was able to feel beautifully unique with no fear of being outshined by someone else in the same dress.
The days leading up to formal had everyone’s schedules packed with spray tan, nail, hair, and makeup appointments. Juniors left school at the 12:15 mark on Thursday the 26th to start their preparation.
Group chats were created to take pre-formal pictures. Juniors went to a variety of different places in order to secure the perfect shot–a popular spot being the bridges by Packanack Lake.
Junior Formal itself was a success thanks to Mr. Miller and Mr. Kelly. When we walked into the Grand we were first checked in and made our way to the tables. People took photos outside on the Grand’s beautiful grounds and to get the building’s striking exterior in the background. Around 10 minutes later we were called section by section to get food. There was a large variety ranging from pasta to rice to different types of cheeses and breads. Later in the evening, The Grand employees placed dessert consisting of vanilla ice cream and warmed brownies at every place setting on the tables.
The place everyone probably enjoyed the most was the dance floor. Throughout the night the DJ played many hits that got people moving. Dance circles were formed as well as Congo lines. Crowd favorites such as the Cupid Shuffle and Cotton-Eyed-Joe were also played.
Overall, Junior Formal was an amazing night where the Juniors were able to create wonderful memories as well as bond with their peers.
