Our assistant principal Jaye Schaffe graduated from Wayne Valley in 2005. When she was a student at Valley, she regretted not opening herself up more and doing more activities. She believes it’s meaningful that she gets to be able to work at the same school where she graduated. When she was a student, she was very shy and didn’t engage with the others, which is another reason why she tries her best to encourage students to do outside sports/clubs outside of their comfort zone.
Education: She attended college and majored in education at the College of New Jersey. There Schaffer earned her Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics Secondary Education. She also holds a Master’s degree in Educational Technology and Leadership from Lamar University.
Work Experience: She has worked as a teacher, and her current position is assistant principal. She was inspired by the teachers she met during her time here at Valley to become a teacher herself, and knew she wanted to pursue it as a career.
High School Career: Ms. Shaffer did SDA for all four years of her high school career. She also encourages students at Valley to branch out more and explore what the school community has to offer. One of her biggest achievements is building a career in education and “returning to my alma mater in a leadership role.”
Future: Her future is completely different than what she pictured while a student. She learned and grew through the years, and her goals had changed as she got older. She’s proud of what she has accomplished as both a student and teacher/assistant principal.
Fun Facts: Her favorite shows and movies are currently “F.R.I.E.N.D.S,” “How I Met Your Mother,” and “The New Girl.” She also enjoys reading books in her free time.
