Every student knows that if you want to go somewhere in the school, the bathroom, for example, you must make an online pass on a website called Smartpass. 

Many would agree that Smartpass is much better than physical bathroom passes. They are much easier to make, and it is much easier to go somewhere without the fear of losing your pass or getting it wet or dirty. 

A downside of this website is that it only allows three people to be in a bathroom at a time. However, the majority of people who make passes to the bathroom do not actually actually use the restroom, preventing people who actually need to use the bathroom from being able to go. 

To add on, no one actually uses the bathroom when in the bathroom and the passes are restricted to one person at a time in every class, which makes the wait time even longer.

Another negative to the Smartpass website is that there is an online bathroom line. If there are three people in the bathroom, it will make you wait in line behind a number of people. It is often only one or two people in line, but the number in line can sometimes go up to seven or more. 

One more downside about Smartpass to mention is that it only gives you the option to go to the bathroom nearest to your class. This is kind of understandable, so that people don’t wander, but if the nearest bathroom is closed and the bathroom of the other gender is not, you usually cannot choose another bathroom. However, if both gender bathrooms nearest to your class are closed, you can go to another bathroom.

Because of these downsides, many believe that the bathroom policies are unfair. Why should everyone in the school be punished for things other people did? Why not only punish the people who hog the bathroom just to do everything but use the bathroom?

Unfortunately, there is no way to know who doesn’t actually use the bathroom unless the teacher who is on bathroom duty is actually inside the bathroom with the students, which is invasive and should not happen. 

This means that no matter how much people disagree with the bathroom policies, not much will change. 

However, one thing that could change is the number of people who are allowed to use the bathroom at a time. This would enable those who actually need to use the restroom, the ability to go during class time. In addition to this, something that could change is the amount of near bathroom options, which can give multiple options if the other bathroom is full.
