As spring break comes closer and closer, so do many new opportunities. Warm weather and longer days are finally coming closer as we bid goodbye to winter and welcome spring. With many days off, there are many different things that you could do in the meantime. Overall, it’s very important to rest and recuperate during it, but that doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t try something new or learn something new, whether it’s about you or the world around you.
For example, you could explore the world around you by trying out new restaurants or taking a road trip with your family. Spending time with family and friends is another great thing to do during break as everyone can finally relax and spend quality time together. Maybe host a game night or event that brings everyone together, whether it’s just to have fun or have good conversation.
You could also spend time outdoors on your own or with others. Despite it being very compelling to just relax on your couch the whole break, it’s also nice to go outside and take advantage of the nice weather after months of cold. You could walk around different places and shops, or you could try new sports and games you’ve never done before. If you really like the outdoors, then camping might be a good idea for you as well! Laurelwood Gardens is right in town and a beautiful spot to walk around complete with a statue garden!
All these are great ideas for fun activities to do yourself over spring break. However, sometimes doing activities with your friends makes everything better. A nice outdoor activity you could do with a group of friends is going to the park and having a delicious picnic in the sun. You and your friends might also want to take time during spring break to catch a movie or spend time in an arcade. Another great, but expensive, idea you could do with friends would be to take a trip to somewhere warm like the beach. Doing activities by yourself is great, but doing these activities with your friends might be even better!
However, you don’t need to do all sorts of elaborate activities during spring break to make you feel good. Simple things like participating in spring cleaning can make you feel good as you head into the next chapter of school with a cleaner environment. According to an article about the importance of spring cleaning, clinical program manager of Kettering Health Behavioral Medical Center, Julie Manuel, explains how, “creating a peaceful environment will help you sleep better and allow you to wake feeling rested and ready to be productive.” She also notes that cleaning and achieving small goals throughout your spring break, “can release endorphins, because we have a sense of accomplishment and success.”
Spring break is a nice and refreshing break from school that makes students feel as if they have all the time in the world. It’s best to prepare and know how to spend it to come back to school feeling rejuvenated. So for this upcoming spring break don’t be afraid to try something new, big or small. Make sure to be rested, and have fun!
