Relay For Life

Relay+For+Life

On Saturday, June 4, 2016 from 2 pm-6 am, the Relay For Life is being hosted at Wayne Valley High School. Thanks to the student volunteers for Relay For Life events, the American Cancer Society is saving more than 500 lives from cancer every day. And so far there are 39 teams, 628 participants that have raised $19,787.47.
At 4 pm there is an opening ceremony, then at 4:30 pm there is a survivors lap, which lets all cancer survivors celebrate their victory over cancer. That is for 10 min until there is caregiver’s lap at 4:40 pm, then the Luminary Ceremony at 10 pm, where people remember loved ones lost to cancer. There then is the Fight Back Ceremony at 11 pm, which is after the relay event where volunteers and students are given information on cancer. The last event at 5 pm is the Closing Ceremony which celebrates what the school accomplished together and encourages people to continue to fight cancer.
