Wayne Valley is overjoyed to have a new history teacher, Mr. Nussbaum! Mr. Nussbaum will be teaching transition skill classes for freshmen and US History I classes for sophomore students. Mr. Nussbaum transitioned to Wayne Valley after eight years of teaching at Anthony Wayne Middle School for special education students. In his ninth year, Mr. Nussbaum brings a strong passion for teaching, providing a safe space where students feel valued and inspired, and is known for making lasting friendships with students.
Before his teaching career, Mr. Nussbaum originally worked in the film industry, producing films that translate to his appreciation for including historical and knowledgeable films in his lessons. However, Mr. Nussbaum soon gravitated towards a teaching career, attending William Paterson University and earning his Undergraduate and Master’s degrees in Special Education. In addition, Mr. Nussbaum also earned his School Principal Certification at William Paterson University. Mr. Nussbaum includes his collegiate education daily as it shapes his teaching philosophy: all students can learn, and you have to get to know each student to ensure they learn the best they can. Moreover, Mr. Nussbaum ensures that his lessons are intriguing and fun, encouraging students to have fun, but also guarantees that students are aware when it’s time to get serious and are expected to learn and finish their work.
Overall, Mr. Nussbaum’s goal is to get used to Wayne Valley and have a tremendous impact on his students. If you see Mr. Nussbaum outside of school, he is likely playing golf with friends and watching or coaching hockey. Mr. Nussbaum’s excellence outside of the classroom is shown by giving back to the community by being an assistant coach for the Kinellon, Jefferson, and Sparta boys ice hockey team, where they won a state championship last year. He also uses his teaching skills outside of school as a teacher of USA Hockey Coaching lessons. With that being said, let’s give Mr. Nussbaum a warm welcome to Wayne Valley!
