Earthquakes Hit Japan

On January 1, 2024, a strong earthquake hit near Suzu on Japan’s Noto Peninsula, causing massive destruction. It measured 7.6 on the Japanese scale. It was extremely powerful, with the worst shaking levels ever recorded. The quake and the tsunami that occurred caused heavy damage in towns like Suzu, Wajima, Noto, and Anamizu and also affected Toyama and Niigata prefectures. Sadly, 462 people people died, most of them were in Ishikawa, and over 1,300 were injured. Almost 170,000 buildings were damaged across nine prefectures. This was the deadliest earthquake in Japan since the 2011 disaster.
Chiefs Win Back-to-Back Super Bowl in 25-22 Win Over 49ers

The Kansas City Chiefs won their fourth Super Bowl in Overtime against the San Francisco 49ers. In the game, quarterback Patrick Mahomes threw for 331 yards, 2 TDs, and 1 interception, and TE Travis Kelce went for 9 catches for 93 yards, leading the team. On the other side of the ball, linebacker Nick Bolton led the Chiefs with 13 tackles and linebacker Fred Warner led the 49ers with 13 tackles. Don’t overlook special teams, kickers Harrison Butker and Jake Moody went a combined 7-7 on field goals scoring 23 combined points. This game was a nail-biter coming down to the last play of the game where Patrick Mahomes found Mecole Hardman Jr for the game-winning touchdown.
Lebron Becomes the Only Person to Pass 40,000 Career NBA Points

Lebron is believed to be the best basketball player in the history of the NBA by many and he only improved his resume this past year. This came in a game in February against the Denver Nuggets. He ended the games at 25 points 7 assists and 9 rebounds but during the second quarter he broke the 40,000 mark. This increases the lead that he holds as the NBA all-time scorer when he passed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as the all-time scorer. This, along with his average of 24 points per game, shows the remarkable longevity of Lebron.
4.8 Magnitude Earthquake Sends Shockwaves Through New York and New Jersey

On April 5, 2024 a rare 4.8 magnitude earthquake struck the heart of New Jersey. It was the strongest earthquake recorded since 1884 and had dozens of NJ residents evacuate their homes. Three homes in Newark, New Jersey started toppling over and there were multiple damages across the city. New York city had about 15 buildings with minor damages. Potholes and sinkholes appeared left and right. It triggered widespread alarm and raised questions about the state of New Jersey’s fault lines.
Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour Touches Down in New Jersey

After 2 months and 25 shows of the Eras tour, it finally reached Rutherford New Jersey. The show was here for three weekend dates. Many fans that came were dressed in flowery dresses, sparkly cowboy boots, etc. The crowd was filled with 72,000 people they had been dying to see the Eras Tour.
2024 UEFA European Football Championship

The 2024 European Football Championship was hosted in Germany. It started June 14th, 2024 and ended July 14th, 2024. The Euro consisted of 24 teams competing across 6 groups of 4. The final teams were England and Spain. Spain played and won 7 of 7 matches. Spain won the 2024 Euro cup.
