Have you ever wondered how you can make a meaningful gift by using items you see all the time at the store or around your house? Creating a burr basket is a very sincere gift as it shows time and effort put into the gift. A burr basket is the same as an Easter basket or a boo basket but is for the winter so a good month to give this would be December.
Step 1: Find a basket
You can use a basket laying around in your house or go to local stores such as Target, Home Goods, or even the Dollar Store! Depending on how many items you want to put in the basket can also determine how big or small the basket can be.
Step 2: Put together your items
Think about what objects you want to include in your burr basket. Students at Wayne Valley mentioned adding a cozy blanket, lip balms, candles, and some candy. You can also add additional items that can make the basket more personalized to the person receiving the basket.
Step 3: Prepare your basket
Add some tissue paper to the bottom of your basket. If you don’t have tissue paper you can also use shredded Easter grass. You will then put your gifts on top.
Step 4: Put everything inside of the basket
Put bigger or bulker items in the back and as you move towards the front put smaller items.
Step 5: Give your basket
Students at Wayne Valley said they would prefer to receive their boo baskets before Christmas, preferably early December.
Hopefully, your basket will keep someone warm and cozy this winter!
