The Final Countdown: Senior Events Leading to Graduation

As graduation gets closer, seniors at Wayne Valley High School have many exciting events to look forward to before they officially finish high school. From prom and the senior trip to graduation practice and Project Graduation, the next few weeks are filled with celebrations and memories for the Class of 2026.

The first major event is the VAL/SAL Breakfast at The Brownstone on Wednesday, June 3. This invitation-only event honors the valedictorian and salutatorian for their hard work and academic success. The next day, seniors will attend one of the most anticipated events of the year, Senior Prom, at The Legacy Castle from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Many students are especially excited for the senior trip to Great Adventure on Thursday, June 10. Senior Justina Mango shared, “I’m excited for the senior trip because it’s roller coasters and I haven’t been on one in a long time.” Other upcoming events include the National Honor Society Ceremony, Senior Daytime Awards, the 4.0 Breakfast, Yearbook Signing, and Community Scholarship Night.

Students are already getting ready for graduation in many ways. Seniors are decorating graduation caps and shopping for dresses and outfits. While many students are excited to graduate, there are also mixed emotions about leaving high school behind. When asked what advice they would give to underclassmen, seniors encouraged younger students to make the most of their high school years. One senior said, “Have all the fun and do every activity because these four years will go by so fast.”

With prom expected to have the biggest turnout and graduation only weeks away, seniors are making the most of every moment before beginning the next chapter of their lives.
