Almost a decade has passed after the terrifying Paris robbery that left Kim Kardashian fearing for her life. The reality television star and businesswoman took the stand this week to unfold all the details of the traumatic night that changed her life forever. While alone in her luxury hotel during the 2016 Paris fashion week, Kim was ambushed and tied up by masked gunmen.
On that night nine years ago, a group of ten robbers, allegedly nine men and women, carried out an elaborate plan to rob millions worth of jewelry from the Kardashian hotel room. The robbers disguised themselves as police officers, tied up the hotel’s concierge, then used him to gain entry to Kim’s room. Kim was then tied up and held at gunpoint while the robbers stole approximately nine million dollars worth of jewelry including her eight million dollar engagement ring from ex-husband, Kanye West. Kim has previously shared that she truly believed she was going to die that night, and all she could think about in those moments were her children at home and the fear that her family would walk into the hotel room to find a gruesome scene.
The trial that people are calling the trial of the “grandpa robbers” since the suspects are now in their sixties-seventies began on April 28, 2025. The ten suspects stood in the Paris Court of Appeal facing charges including, armed robbery, kidnapping, and gang association. If convicted, the suspects could be sent to life in prison. On May 13th, Kim saw these men again for the first time from the witness stand as she made her statement. As a sign of resilience, Kim entered the courtroom wearing millions worth of bold and stunning jewelry. Her testimony was powerful and emotional, she went into full detail of what she went through the night of October 3rd, 2016. Kim expressed every emotion she felt and shared how she was terrified to leave her house even months after the robbery. While speaking to the suspects Kim said, “I do appreciate it, I forgive you. But it doesn’t change the emotion, the feelings and the trauma and the way my life has changed.” In previous articles and interviews, Kim shared that this forced her to rethink about the way she lived, forcing her to be more cautious about what she posted on social media and her overall sense of safety.
Everyone will be watching closely as this trial continues hoping that Kim Kardashian will get the justice she deserves after years of carrying the trauma of this night with her.
