
Emphasis is Wayne Valley’s literary magazine and creative writing club. After four months of editing and adjudication, the 2025 edition was released on May 19, with print copies being given to those whose works were published shortly after Memorial Day Weekend. In total, forty-four literary works were published. The magazine is split into three sections (Poetry, Fiction, and Prose) with a first, second, and third place winner for each, along with some honorable mentions. For the poetry section, the winners are: “Time” by Aayush Pandya (first place), “The Beauty of the Beast” by Kelsey Meyers (second place), “Lies” by Timothy Kim (third place), and “A Silent Cry” by Katie McLean (honorable mention). The winners of the fiction section are: “Seven and Eight” by Mia Corrigan (first place), “A Vampire’s Hunt” by Damian MacDonald (second place), and “What Lies Beneath” by Ariella Chapnik (third place). Finally the winners of the prose section are: “Blind Devotion” by Aidan Kindler (first place), “Mike” by Sire Islam (second place), and “To Horse Girl” by Rebecca Machado (third place).
