New students invaded Wayne Valley High School on April 24th! Take your child to work day has become a favorite around the school, because it often brings little kids and fun activities!
Each year on the fourth Thursday of April, National Take Our Children to Work Day encourages parents and guardians to take their children to their places of employment. Both the United States and Canada host this annual event to help children explore different aspects and roles of the workforce.
Here at Wayne Valley, Dr. Moreno organized different teachers and classes to show the staffs’ children all the things our school has to offer. NHS student volunteers took the children around the school to different activities.
In the media center, the children of staff made necklaces, painted, watched movies, and more. Outside there were many kids playing with the students of Wayne Valley. There was kickball, spike ball, cornhole and more and every kid was playing or doing something. In science, children planted marigolds and pea plants. The Art wing let kids express themselves with slime and face painting. The US History teachers hosted different coloring stations. In Fashion, the children made fashion collages with leftover fabric swatches.
Senior Clarita Bordamonte helped out in the photography room a few times today. She explains, “In the photo room Pritchard had a whole Photo Booth and computer lab set up for the kids that were in there. They were able to take professional photos and play video games.”
Media specialist, Mrs. Foster, brought her kids in to help her with the projects in the media center. Max Foster enjoyed creating things with the 3D pens! His sister, Finley, liked making friendship bracelets. The daughter of English Teacher Mrs. D’Amelio, Malina, said, “My favorite thing was cooking pancakes.”
Math teacher Mrs. Sanzari brought her three year old daughter. “It was my first time bringing her and it has been great!”
