If you’re looking for a new club to join, check out the History Club! This club is run by Craig Legras and Mrs. Vacca; together, they came up with the idea to start a history club here at Wayne Valley. Mrs. Vacca had run a history club in the past and had been looking for a new activity. After pitching the idea with Legras, the two officially started the club and began visualizing what is to come for its future.
Since its development, the History Club has begun meeting on a bi-weekly basis to talk about historical events and discuss future prospects for the club. These meetings are brief yet informative; they are especially helpful for all students in history courses. Recently, the History Club came together to provide APUSH students with helpful resources to pass their exams, and they plan to continue doing so in the future. They also plan on doing the same for students in other history courses such as AP European History. Overall, they aim to make the AP exam season easier for all AP history students with assistance from students who have successfully completed the course.
In recent meetings, the members of the History Club have been planning for the club’s future. There have been discussions of future field trips such as a trip to the Dey Mansion, a local historical site. Although they are hard to plan, Mrs. Vacca and Legras are trying their hardest to arrange somewhere fun for the club to go. There are also future plans to have a merch designing day for the History Club to get every member involved in club activities and advertising. They plan to host more fundraisers–including bake sales–to pay for club expenses and spread the word about the club.
If you wish to get involved in any of these activities, join the History Club! It is always of utmost importance to be in touch with history and global events to avoid repeating them, and the History Club is a great way to start! Stop by at one of their meetings to get a sense of what the club is all about or contact Mrs. Vacca for more information. We hope to see you there!
