On the night of February 25, 2025, Wayne Valley’s Choir Program–including the chorus and chamber choir classes–performed their annual “Pops Concert.” This concert is themed around a decade from the past and involves the classes performing music from that time period. This year’s concert was themed around the 80s. Students sang song’s such as “The Eye of the Tiger” by Survivor and “Jump” by Van Halen.
Students wore outfits from the decade from neon jumpsuits to overalls. There were also a few solo performances that were selected through an audition with the choir director Ms. Russoniello. Musicians also participated including a rock band and a saxophone player.
In between songs, Ms. Russoniello gave fun facts about the 80s, such as MTV’s debut in 1981 and the rise of video games like Pac-Man.
This year’s “Pops Concert” was both fun and educational for all participants, performers, and audience alike and was a wonderful reflection of music in the 80s.
