Former Anchor of the Wayne Valley’s V, Ruby Quinzer is now a sophomore in college at the University of Tampa majoring in public relations. When she was at Wayne Valley, she was in the TV classes and during her senior year, Quinzer was extremely involved with Wayne Valley’s YouTube channel: the V. As the main anchor, Quinzer had many responsibilities with maintaining the channel.
Quinzer states that she had an absolutely amazing experience at Valley, but senior year was her favorite out of them all. “I felt like I had a lot of freedom during my senior year, and it was definitely my most fun year in terms of TV even though it was a lot of work.” While she did work super hard in TV class to get to the position she was in, it was definitely all worth it. This is because she really loved her TV teacher Mrs. Damer who helped her succeed.
Quinzer was part of Wayne Valley TV for all 4 years in high school and feels most accomplished of her work during her last 2 years. She states, “I really can’t pick if I feel more accomplished in junior or senior year but both years were definitely super beneficial to me.” During her junior year, Quinzer worked extremely hard to get a lead spot in the V, and her hard work and dedication definitely paid off. In addition to her anchor role, during her junior and senior year, Quinzer was the host of Keeping Up With Valley. This program is made up of videos that are shorter than the V. These videos happen once a week and they talk about each week at Valley.
“Mrs. Damer is an amazing lady and an excellent teacher,” Quinzer exclaims. “I love Mrs. Damer; she is one of the best teachers I have ever had. She is also extremely inspiring, and she wants her students to be happy and always wants the best for them.” Whenever anyone talks about Mrs. Damer, their words are always positive, and she is always smiling in the halls, giving off good vibes. Anyone would be happy to get to have her as a teacher. She is so kind, friendly, and goofy. She is super lenient but not too lenient to the point where it is a free-for-all.
Quinzer states, “Funny story, I actually wasn’t interested in doing TV, but then I looked into it more and my friends were all doing it so I figured I would give it a try.” Well, this definitely worked out for Quinzer! Quinzer was initially inspired by her friends, but then she fell in love with TV and continued it throughout high school. “This was really inspiring to me because these are my best friends that were telling me this and I really trust and love them, I also wanted to make them happy and not let them down.” This just shows the caring type of person Quinzer is!
In college, Quinzer is doing some classes related to TV, but she is not as involved with it as she was in high school. Whether it is studying, working on the V, or working one of her part time jobs, Ruby Quinzer knows the importance of creativity, hard work, time and dedication. She plans on bringing these traits to her future career!
