Before the Bay Harbour Butcher, Dexter Morgan’s life used to be a mystery. Well it used to be, until now. The new tv series Dexter: Original Sin, reveals the teen years of Dexter’s life. Serving as a direct prequel to the hit tv series Dexter. Adapted from the book Darkly Dreaming Dexter, the tv series follows Dexter Morgan, a blood spatter analysis. However, when he isn’t out solving murders, he’s committing them. Dexter has a dark urge and he decides to use it on killers and criminals who’ve escaped the justice system. Airing from 2006 to 2013, Dexter was one of the most popular horror tv shows at the time. But once it ended, there wasn’t any more Dexter media besides playing cards and action figures. 

That all changed when Dexter: New Blood came out in 2021, gaining about 8 millions views per episode weekly. While Dexter: New Blood takes place after Dexter, the newest series takes place before Dexter.

Dexter: Original Sin acts as the origin story of Dexter, showcasing his friends and family when he was a teen. It ties up many questions throughout the series, explaining how Dexter slowly became a blood spatter analyst by day, and a serial killer by night. Dexter: Original Sin is currently available on Paramount +, Hulu and Amazon Prime. Its first episode aired on December 13th, with new episodes each week.
