Wayne Valley’s fall production of Annie was a hit! Families, friends, and students of Wayne Valley all came to see the play and greatly enjoyed all the scenes, especially when Sandy came out. Everyone in the crowd was in awe at the adorable puppy. The time and effort that was put into this production absolutely paid off in the end, as seen by the thunderous applause after each show. Ultimately, with the huge success of Annie, it is anticipated that the spring show will be even better.
In case you haven’t heard yet, Wayne Valley’s Spring Musical is going to be Mamma Mia. Mamma Mia is a movie that takes place on a fictional island in Greece–called Kalokairi–in the year 2000. One of the main characters, Sophie Sheridan, is getting married to her fiancé, Skye, and wants her father to be at her wedding. Sophie’s mother, Donna Sheridan, gave birth to Sophie and raised her without a father. As the first song reveals, Donna had affairs with three men around the time when she was pregnant with Sophie. These men were architect Sam Carmichael, banker Harry Bright, and sailor Bill Anderson. Sophie learns this by coming across her mother’s diary, reading her entries with these other men.
This musical was composed to visualize many of the songs from the popular group ABBA. Some of the popular songs included are Mamma Mia, Money, Money, Money, Lay all your Love On Me, and many more.
