On Wednesday March 6, Wayne Valley’s Jazz Band hosted the NJAJE Jazz Preliminary Festival, with our band earning a silver rating. Ten bands from around the state came together for this competition to show off their talent. Wayne Valley performed the following songs: “Yes or No” written by Wayne Shorter and arranged by Mike Tomaro with soloists Zoey Jurkin, Gabe Santana, Wadeed Hanafy and Robbie Cisneros; “My Funny Valentine” by Richard Rodgers and arranged by Dave Wolpe with a duet from Wadeed Hanafy and Robbie Cisneros; and finally, “Tank” written by Yoko Kanno and arranged by Eric Dannewitz with soloist Ayla Homsy.
