Music Perspectives is a dual-enrollment elective worth 5 credits that allows you to get college credit without ever leaving Valley! The dual-enrollment program partners with local colleges, in this class’s case Seton Hall, to allow high school students to pass the course and receive credit that is transferable to the college. If you’re looking for a low-stress, creative setting that encourages uniqueness, Mr. Rusca is the teacher for you! A first-year teacher here at Valley, he helps students like me utilize the music production software “Ableton” to create original beats! With no prior music experience required, even someone who’s never picked up an instrument can get the hang of the user-friendly interface. The workload is manageable, with all projects being worked on and completed in the music room during class. Music Perspectives also fulfills the Visual and Performing Arts requirement, so students who aren’t interested in a traditional art class such as Visual Foundations can still graduate with this box checked. Overall, this class encourages students to create their own music in a laid-back and non-judgemental environment that can add a fun period to anyone’s day!
