On December 10th, Wayne Valley was lucky enough to host the annual craft fair organized by the PTO. This event came just in time for the holidays, providing stocking stuffers, home decor, and sweet treats. With plenty of vendors and endless creativity, it’s impossible to leave empty-handed.
The event was open to the entire town; people of all ages were welcome! Most of the vendors were from our community and were of varying ages. Senior Sarah Bensaid, who was a volunteer at the fair, commented, “I was so shocked that the people in our town were so talented…It was so cute seeing these older couples with small businesses. You could see they were really proud of what they made.”
This was the perfect event to get Valley in the holiday mood, spreading cheer throughout the hallways. Another volunteer, Matt Bielen, agrees: “I really just loved how much spirit surrounded the entire craft fair.” The volunteers at the fair were able to get the same experience as the shoppers. Bielen adds, “Even volunteering there for two hours really put me in the holiday mood, and made me really really excited to surround myself with Christmas.”
These crafts do not only serve for holiday gift-giving and fun, they can also be enjoyed by anyone at any time of the year. There were many jewelry and home decor stands that did not focus on the holidays, as well as baked goods that were meant for every day. The craft fair was also a wonderful opportunity to pick out a unique gift for a companion, or even your favorite teacher.
Essentially, it was an occasion for all Wayne citizens to visit and enjoy. Wayne Valley even served breakfast and lunch items for shoppers. The fair was a success for both the PTO and the vendors. We can’t wait for it to return next year!
