A New Chapter in Wayne Valley Clubs

Wayne Valley now has a new book club for students! Each month, the students in the club pick a book and read it for their next meeting. During a lunch block, the club hosts a meeting to discuss the book and have snacks! So far, they’ve read The Inheritance Games by Jennifer Lynn Barnes and The Midnight Library by Matt Haig.
Earlier this year, students asked Mrs. Foster, the Media Specialist, if the school could start a book club. Mrs. Foster believes that “reading promotes critical thinking and writing skills” that will help students in their classes. She hopes that students will bring their friends to meetings to make the club even larger and spread their love of reading.

According to Mrs. Foster, “a club like this allows students who love reading to come together and socialize while discussing interesting best-sellers!” The club is not only educational, but will allow students to make friends with similar interests.

The students at Wayne Valley are not the only ones who have a book club: the teachers do as well! They’ve recently read Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus and Demon Copperhead by Barbara Kingsolver.

The next meeting for the club is on March 28. Anyone interested is welcome to come to room 151 with their lunch to see what the club is all about!
