Flag Football
This year, Wayne Valley received the privilege of becoming a part of the statewide girls’ flag football league. This program is sponsored by the New York Jets who gave our school a grant for this project. Mr. Imperatore, who joined our guidance department this year, is the team’s head coach. Mrs. Larcamp and Mr. Kotlarz will be working as assistant coaches.
Mr. Imperatore is honored to be a part of this experience, and he has high hopes that the Wayne Valley team will be the best in the division. That said, the ultimate goal is to get more girls involved in football while having fun! Thirty-seven girls attended tryouts, which were held the week of March 7th, and vied for one of thirty roster spots.
The flag football team’s first scrimmage is against Nutley on April 9th at 2pm, and their first game is away against Clifton on April 13th at 1pm. The girls also have a Jamboree tournament on April 3rd at 12pm, which will be held at the MetLife stadium. Good luck to those participating; we cannot wait to see what you accomplish!
