Senior Prom

A Royal Affair

On June 9th, Wayne Valley’s senior class wore their best to the Legacy Castle in Pompton Plains, New Jersey. The place lived up to its name and so the seniors had a truly royal event. The Legacy Castle is an 82,000-square-foot luxury castle-themed banquet hall.

The beautiful castle sits on 42 acres surrounded by water on either side. Inside, students were surrounded by carved molding

gold detail, to sparkling chandeliers and opulent seating. The place has many areas for amazing photo ops from the veranda to multiple staircases.

The prom started off with appetizers while students took photos throughout the castle. Then the students were led into the ballroom to dance.

Senior Claire Bamdas said, “The Castle was really pretty. The food was really good! There was a bunch of food for the buffet.” The appetizers included everything from coconut shrimp to wings. Then the dinner buffet had traditional banquet hall fare as well as a hamburger and hot dog station. The night ended with a huge dessert buffet. Some highlights included a different cakes, a waffle and ice cream station, cake pops and cookies.

In fact, Jeff Robbinson agreed, “I liked dessert buffet. The cookies were really good and so was the ice cream. They had a lot stuff! The food was just really good.”

After the food, the students came back together as a class. All agreed that it was nice and felt normal for the first time in months. “It was so great to see everyone together without masks. It felt normal! The place was beautiful and the food was really good,” explains Abby Boyar.
