Valley’s “We Act Club” hosted Maasai Chief Joseph from Kenya and his companion John on Friday, October 18th. Together, the men spoke to high school students about what life and culture is like within their village. There were many different activities such as dressing up in Maasai clothing and dancing to Maasai folk songs for students to participate in throughout the day. Both students and staff members helped raise funds for Chief Joseph’s Operation Safe Home initiative, a project Chief Joseph started to help children and young girls escape human trafficking. They had different crafts and jewelry for sale to help raise funds. The We Act Club also donated to their Clean Water Fund to help the tribe finish a well project to supply clean water for a Maasai village.
