Though I haven’t been to many meetings, I can tell that Emphasis is truly a special club. Emphasis meets every Thursday after school in room 202. Under Dr. White’s supervision, a group of students can freely share their poetry, stories, or any emotional piece without any judgement. Even if the students decide not to share with the group, it can be very beneficial to hear other students expressing similar emotions through their writing. In the past years, Emphasis has hosted a writing contest. The contest acknowledges young writers and their different styles. I hope to keep sharing my poems and listening to those of my fellow peers, as these brief meetings will further help to expand my knowledge of my emotions and those of the people around me.
