As children, we often are thrown into lots of different activities until one really sticks. This was no different for junior Carina Festa, a champion fencer. Carina’s mom signed her up for fencing classes at age 9, and it was then that her talent was discovered. Today, Carina practices 6 days a week at her fencing club and works out with a personal trainer on her “off days.” This past season was Carina’s best yet. She received a Division 1 third place medal out of nearly 200 athletes! Division 1 events contain competitors at the highest levels, from D1 colleges to the Olympics! Additionally, she competed in the Junior Olympics (in the juniors event–containing nearly 300 people), and came in second place! In the future, Carina hopes to medal at the NCAA championship. Upon entering college, she will decide whether or not to enter the olympic race. Carina has committed to a D1 University that is among the top ranked schools for fencing. We cannot wait to see what she does next!
