Devastation in Ukraine

June 12, 2023

Russia is using a staggering amount of bullet cases monthly, going through about 700 rounds a day or about 20,000 rounds a month.

Most recently in the fight ongoing in Bakhmut, the Ukrainian forces have recaptured over two kilometers, or just over a mile, in the entrenched warfare going on in the city. Although Russia does not normally report losses to its population, according to CNN, “Russia’s military acknowledged Friday that its forces had pulled back from areas north of Bakhmut, claiming they moved to more advantageous defensive positions.” There must be significant progress in the city for Russia’s inability to cover the tracks of their numerous losses. With so many soldiers posting on websites, such as telegram, spreading proof of losses to the Russian people, there is no opportunity of denying or hiding by the Russian Government and military.

The Russian mercenary group, Wagner Group, invited key members of the Kremlin’s Cabinet to see the battle’s state on the ground. The outcome was the desired victory the Defense Minister was hoping for in Bakhmut. CNN reports that Wagner forces are reporting even heavier losses upwards of 5 square kilometers in a single week! “The chief of Wagner Group invited Russia’s defense minister to visit the Bakhmut front lines, his latest provocative statement amid a rift with the Kremlin. He claimed Moscow has lost 5 square kilometers (nearly 2 square miles) near Bakhmut on Friday.” It’s not looking so good for the Kremlin.

Britain’s Long Range Cruise finally arrived in Ukraine last week and thanks is being shown in any and every way possible. Of course the military’s private communications occur, and we are sure they are very grateful, but President Zelinski was getting personal on Twitter according to ‘The Guardian’ by thanking British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak; “In a tweet, Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskiy thanked British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak for the provision of long-range cruise missiles.” Clearly this war is more than just politics, it’s about their homeland, freedom, and absolute refusal of oppression.

Lastly, things are ramping up as the Ukrainians are preparing for a counter attack, an offensive that has both Wagner and Russian troops frantic and scrambling together. The Wagner Leader is worried that although his forces are able to apply attacking pressure, they cannot commit to the defense because of a lack of ammo, supplies, and even soldiers. While Russia’s offensive moves were somewhat working, none of the troops were ready for an Ukrainian Offensive, especially an angry one. Per The Guardian, “The statement on Friday was the first admission by Moscow that Ukraine was successfully recapturing ground around Bakhmut, a largely destroyed city with a prewar population of about 70,000 that Russia has been trying to conquer for more than 10 months.” It’s not looking so good for Russia. We wish the best for all the soldiers and for their families.
