As the weather gets nicer and the school year winds down, it can be difficult to stay motivated, especially for seniors. The remainder of this school year, however, is packed with exciting activities to look forward to and participate in.

April 1-8: Starting with spring break, this is a great opportunity to get together with friends, travel or just relax at home before the chaos of AP exams and final marking period grades begins. We all know teachers like to pile on the work to get grades in for the conclusion of marking period three, which will end on April 14.

April 27-29: At the end of April, Wayne Valley’s hallways will transform into tunnels of passion, glitter, and posters. For the class of 2023, this is their first normal SDA season, and they are looking forward to making it the most exciting show yet. This year, the shows will take place Thursday, April 27 through Saturday, April 29.

May 1-12: The Monday after SDA marks the start of AP exams which will be carried out over two weeks. After exams have concluded, seniors have a wide range of events coming their way to end their senior year on a high note.

June 5: Seniors will take a trip to Six Flags Great Adventure for an all-day affair of rides and games.

June 6: The community scholarship award ceremony will be held to recognize the seniors’ academic accomplishments and provide financial aid to assist their future plans. Every senior was encouraged to complete the application process in order to qualify and possibly receive funds toward higher education or the workforce.

June 7: The 4.0 breakfast is organized every year for seniors who have obtained a GPA of 4.0 or higher. The hard work and dedication it takes to achieve such high honor is recognized with a small ceremony followed by breakfast. Students are permitted to bring a couple of guests, typically parents, guardians, or other immediate family members.

June 8: This year, prom will be held at The Legacy Castle. Be sure to get dressed to the nines because this night will be full of dancing, good food, and more!

June 14: Daytime awards are presented to students who have made a difference within Wayne Valley. Based on social, academic, extracurricular, and athletic accomplishments, seniors will receive these awards from their teachers which gives it a more meaningful purpose. Later that night, during the yearbook signing at the Barnyard, in Totowa, seniors will pick up their yearbooks, get them signed by friends, and settle down for a nice meal.

June 21: There will be another chance for seniors to sign each others’ yearbooks at the senior breakfast on the last day of school. The minimal day will consist of a raffle for gift certificates, graduation practice, the graduation ceremony, and Project Graduation. Seniors are advised to pack casual clothing, and pizza will be provided at Valley before heading off to their Project Graduation destination.

As a senior, it’s important to make the most of every high school moment. These experiences may only come once, so be sure to attend as many events as possible!
