Countdown to Relay For Life

Relay For Life is approaching fast, with 17 days left to fundraise. The event takes place here, at Wayne Valley, on our football field! This year’s theme is music: “A cure is music to our ears”!  This year’s event is on Saturday, May 20th, from 4 pm to 4 am. Each hour of the night represents what a cancer patient goes through. Everyone is welcome to register and make a team!

Our town comes together as one to raise money to fund cancer research. Wayne has held a Relay For Life event for the past 16 years. Last year the event raised $100,074! The ceremonies inspire and touch those who want to help fight cancer. Each year a survivor and caregiver speak at the event; this year, your peers will speak! In addition, the luminaria ceremony is held at 10 pm every year to remember those we have lost. 

Don’t worry; you are not running all night. The event includes fun games, hennas and face painting, a dunk tank and bounce house, food trucks, and more! A spike ball tournament will be held at midnight on the field this year. To sign up, find the Google form on the Instagram! This year there will be Sweet Queen Ice Cream truck, Jersey Johnnies food trucks, and more! The students and families create teams and wear matching team shirts on the event day. Each team raises money, and the team with the most will be recognized at the event!

Help us reach this year’s goal of $100,000. To donate, visit our website (search “Wayne Relay For Life”). If you want other ways to be involved, you can donate shoes to the shoe drive; they will collect decent condition shoes until the event day.
