Wayne Culinary Competition Returns
March 15, 2023
The tastiest event of the year is back in action! After a three year gap due to the pandemic, the high schools of Wayne finally saw a comeback of the infamous Culinary Competition. Any Wayne students, teachers, or residents were welcome to visit and get a taste of this event.
Sponsored by Sodexo, our schools main meal supplier, the competition was a huge success. It featured teams from both Wayne Valley and Wayne Hills high schools. The students served a whopping 200 guests that night. It’s safe to say that Thursday, March 8th, left the halls of Wayne Valley smelling better than ever. Altogether, the event was a major success and raised $1400 for Wayne High School Scholarships.
Mrs. Nazarko has always attended the competitions in the past. She said, “As a lover of food, this was one of my favorite school events. This year’s competition had so many interesting and delicious dishes. I was stuffed! I am so happy we brought it back, and I look forward to attending it again next year!”
To help run the competition, a combination of Wayne Valley and Sodexo staff members took charge. Most of the credit for the competition goes to Sodexo and their amazing staff led by Mike Schmitt. And of course, our Wayne Valley culinary students and their amazing head chefs: Chef Sean Mahonchak and Chef Belinda Prindilus.
