Wayne Valley Cross Country Takes on Great Adventure

October 17, 2022

This September, Wayne Valley’s cross country team continued their tradition of taking an annual trip to Six Flags: Great Adventure in Jackson, NJ to run in the Six Flags Wild Safari Invitational meet.

In the morning, upperclassmen ran a 5k race, while freshmen ran a 2-mile course. Both races took place outside the theme park, but the runners had a spectacular view of Kingda Ka—the tallest roller coaster in the world—in the distance throughout their race. Wayne Valley athletes had a fantastic race at this meet, with more than half of the team running a personal best time in their 5k or 2 miles. In addition, JV boys took home the first place plaque and Varsity boys got 6th place in their group.

Though the runners were definitely exhausted after their race, that didn’t stop them from spending the next six hours at the Great Adventure theme park where they walked around, snacked on boardwalk food, and went on all of their favorite rides. A day of personal records and team bonding, the Six Flags Wild Safari Invitational meet was a huge success.
