The 2017-2018 school year is off to a great start, and our newest members of the Child Development program could not be more excited to meet our preschoolers! We have two Child Development I classes filled with students ready to learn about child care and teaching. The first day of preschool was last week, and the students had very positive reactions to all of the lessons.

Between lesson plans and coming up with creative crafts and activity ideas, the students have plenty to do. Mrs. Folenta has been a huge help to the new students by making sure that they understand what the children are interested in and what might be too advanced for them. They have also learned how to write out lesson plans and evaluation sheets.

During the first day of preschool, the student-teachers were filled with excitement and nerves. One student, Madison Borowinski, was “a little nervous about [her] first day of teaching, but [she knew] that once [she started] teaching it [was going to be] a lot of fun!” As a whole, our newest teachers were prepared to meet the little ones for the first time and jump right into a fun and exciting year!
