National Signing Day: 

On February 5, 2020, 17 senior athletes participated in National Signing Day. Congratulations to our senior student athletes who have commited to play at the next level.

Athletes give back!

– The Wayne Valley and Wayne Hills Ski Racing Teams came together at the 2020 Special Olympics Winter Games, helping athletes compete in Alpine Skiing! #WAYNEPRIDE #ONETOWN
– Our Captain’s Council (24 student athlete leaders for winter sports) read to 2nd graders at JFK Elementary School celebrating 2nd and 7 Readers and Leaders on February 7th. It was a great experience for the 2nd graders and our student athletes!

Winter Sports Updates: 

Dance Team – The team came in 1st in both Varsity Jazz and Varsity Pom at Ramapo College Tri-State Dance Championship.

Wrestling – Our Wrestling Team placed 2nd in the Districts and advancing seven wrestlers to the Regions. 2nd Place: Attila Valy, Elijah Lugo, 3rd Place: Michael Antonuccio, Andy Roth, Adam Zindaki, Ryan Colella, Jordan Botero. Congratulations to Elijah Lugo who not only won his 100th match in Wrestling this past weekend but also took home the Passaic County Wrestling Championship at 152lbs for the 2nd year in a row! Congratulations to Jordan Botero who won the Passaic County Wrestling Championship at Heavyweight! The other week, Valley dominated our rivals Wayne Hills 45-15

Girls Basketball –  Our Girls Basketball Team not only won the Independence Division of the Big North Conference but are also on their way to the Passaic County Finals for the 3rd year in a row! Brianna Neary became Wayne Valley’s 2020 National Girls and Women in Sports Day Award recipient. Brianna is Captain of our Girls Basketball Team and a key player in our State Championship Girls Volleyball Team.

Fencing – Boys won a tight match against the Hornets of Passaic Valley 14-13

Ice Hockey – Wayne Knights managed a 44-29 win last night!

Winter Track & Field – Track and Field Star Alexis Rocker signed with DI Virginia Military Institute. Congratulations also go out  to Milica Rodic who won three Gold Medals at the Big North Winter Track and Field Championships. Milica won the long jump, triple jump, and the high jump events for our Indians. Congratulations to Gavin McGarrity who placed third at the Wayne Valley Shot Put and High Jump Invitational. He threw 45’9” in the shot put and broke his own record by over two feet!

Boys Basketball – Wayne Valley beat Ridgewood on 1/11

Bowling –Marissa Cosentini finished 4th in the entire state at the NJSIAA Individual Girls Bowling Finals and 2nd in High Game with a 266. Marissa also bowled a 280 to make it in the top 5 stepladder. Bowler Devin Barbieri and Bowler Marissa Cosentini both qualified for the State Individual Finals for Boys and Girls Bowling. Devin finished with the high series, with an amazing 732, and 3rd high game with a 276, at the North 1A Group IV State Sectionals! Marissa finished 3rd with a 632 series at the North 1A Group IV State Sectionals!

Skiing – Both the boys and girls came in third place this past week

Girls Swimming – The Girls won against Fair Lawn.  Swimmer Grace Sendak broke the Passic County 500 Freestyle Record set by alumnus Meaghan O’Donnell at the 2020 Passaic County Swimming Championship! In addition, Girls Swimming won the 400 freestyle relay against Passaic Tech. Grace was also part of the County Championship 400 Freestyle Relay along with Madison Borowinski, Samantha Maybrown, and Emily Valenzuela with a winning time of 3:48.13. Our Girls Team came in 2nd overall and Maddie Borowinski came home with a gold and 3 silver medals.

Boys Swimming – Congratulations to the Boys Swim Team who came in 2nd overall at the 2020 Passaic County Championship. Several of our boys crushed their personal best times and Mike Matthews came home with 4 silver medals for our Indians.

Competition Cheer – Our amazing Competition Cheer Team won the 2020 Big North Championship for the 4th year in a row! The team took First Place in their Division and First Place overall at the Woodbridge Invitation!


Congratulations are in order to: Head Football Coach Roger Kotlarz who was recently honored as FNF Coach of the Year for the State of NJ! Coach Kotlarz lead us to our 1st State Championship in 27 years and defeated two #1 seeds to win the 2019 North Group IV Championship!
