Teacher for a Day

Members of the community were afforded the opportunity to work in tandem with Wayne Public School teachers throughout the district.  The event took place on May 23rd as the guest teachers gained valuable experience in educational environments, while sharing their stories to a plethora of students.  The members of the program not only spent time with students in the classroom, but also became accustomed to recess, hall-duty, and cafeteria-duty.  The Wayne Education Association’s prime motive was to create an awareness for the remarkable needs of the school children and the concerns of the district.

Those who involved include:
-Wayne Township Mayor Chris Vergano, who worked with multiple staff members at Packanack Elementary School.
-Passaic County Clerk (and candidate for the NJ Senate) Kristin Corrado, who assisted teacher Ashli Wasik at Schuyler Colfax (Social Studies 7th grade).
-Wayne Township Council Member Franco Mazzei, who taught alongside teacher Jessica O’Heir at Packanack Elementary (4th grade).
-CBS News Anchor Alice Gainer, who joined her mother  Mary Ann Gainer (English) & John Randall (TV Production).
-Steve Rajczyk from AAA North Jersey, who taught a session to Wayne Valley and Hills student, accompanied by teachers Ken Bergen and Steve Hopper (Automotive Technology).
Z100’s Danielle Monaro, who arrived at Theunis Dey to teach Lauren Pici (1st Grade).
